Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Private Limited (HMSI), launching the new sporty 125 cc bike, and expecting to sell 80,000 “CBF Stunner” motorcycles in the country during the current financial year. HMSI president and chief executive officer Shinji Aoyama said that the company was also expecting to increase its two-wheeler market share in India from 11 per cent in 2007-08 to 15 per cent in the next three years.
“We believe the market for two wheelers will grow even under the present conditions of high interest rates”, he said adding that the company has targeted to sell one million vehicles, including 7 lakh scooters and 3 lakh motorcycles, this year as against a sale of 9.07 lakh vehicles last year.
Stating that HMSI has launched one new model every year since 2001 and aspires to be present in all segments of the two-wheeler category, he said that the company would bring a slew of high premium bikes to India by March 2009. — (business-standard.com)
