The Electronic Arts game, Madden NFL 09, was the No.1 pick in video games in August, according to research released Friday.

Despite its popularity, the game wasn’t strong enough to offset sagging U.S. video game sales which had the smallest monthly sales increase in more than two years.

Sony has announced the recall of certain Vaio TZ series notebooks after a number of consumers reported overheating, with one even resulting in minor burns.

The notebooks, according to Sony, contain “irregularly positioned wires near the computer’s hinge and/or a dislodged screw inside the hinge [that] can cause a short circuit and overheating.”

A car designer has launched a ‘flat-pack’ hybrid vehicle capable of doing 225 miles per gallon costing £14,000.

For £110, DIY enthusiasts can get construction plans for the three-wheeled XR3 Hybrid Vehicle including a manual and instruction DVD from Robert Q. Riley Enterprises, a design company in Phoenix, Arizona.

Apple is expected to show off its new iPod music players, and possibly announce price cuts, on Tuesday but may not release a long-awaited update to its MacBook laptop computers until a later date.

Apple, which also makes iPhone devices, e-mailed reporters an invitation to a Sept. 9 event titled “Let’s Rock,” which has an image of a man jumping while listening to an iPod, with the words “playing soon.” » Read the rest of the entry..

Nokia launched a new music service Tuesday in the U.K. that bundles free access to music with the purchase of a phone.

The new service called “Comes with Music” offers users of certain Nokia phones a year’s subscription to the company’s music service. The program will initially be offered through Carphone Warehouse in the U.K., but Nokia has plans to eventually roll it out globally.

A global automobile industry expert projects Korea will produce around 48,000 hybrid vehicles in 2012.

In a recent report, Frost & Sullivan, a global consulting service provider, forecast that gasoline engines’ share in the domestic auto market will fall from 81 percent last year to 75 percent in 2012, as hybrid vehicles are expected to increase in popularity.

The Wall Street Journal reports Toyota will make a hybrid powertrain option available on all its vehicles by 2020. The move comes as Toyota is facing increased pressure with new hybrids coming from GM, Ford and Nissan, and while it prepares to launch the 2010 Prius, which will eventually be built in a new factory in Blue Springs, Miss.

(AP) - Deere & Co., the world’s largest of maker of farm machinery, said Wednesday third-quarter profit rose 7 percent as high crop prices spurred stronger sales of tractors and harvesting equipment.

But lower sales of its consumer, construction and forestry equipment, coupled with higher costs of raw materials such as steel and rubber, hurt the company, which missed Wall Street earnings estimates for the second straight quarter.
